Biography

SOPRANO ELIZABETH FISHER

Based in Chicago, rising young soprano Elizabeth Fisher is preparing to make her company debut with the Gilbert and Sullivan Opera Company, where she will be performing the role of Ruth and understudying the role of Rose in their production of Ruddigore. She was recenetly  as a Festival Artist, where she be covered the roles of Laurie (The Tender Land) and Pamina (The Magic Flute). She is currently a Soprano Section leader at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Wilmette, Illinois. During the summer of 2021, she performed the role of Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor with Opera in the Ozarks. Ms. Fisher received her Master of Music in Vocal Performance at Florida State University, studying with David Okerlund.  In Florida State Opera's 2020/2021 season, she coached the roles of Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor) and Juliette (Romeo et Juliette) with the opera department. On the main stage, she sang the role of Miriam in Lee Hoiby's The Scarf and Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) in a Mozart Scene Concert with a full orchestra. Recently, Ms. Fisher received an Encouragement Award from the Nebraska District of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. She also won First Place in the MiOpera Vocal Competition, University Division. 
 
During her first year at Florida State, Fisher portrayed the roles of Héro in  Berlioz's Beatrice et Bénédict and Malwina in Marschner's Der Vampyr. She also won the Beaulieu Vocal Competition. 

Fisher graduated from Drake University, where she received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance under the tutelage of Andrew Ryker and Dr. Leanne Freeman-Miller. There, she performed Nannetta in Verdi's Falstaff, Papagena and Pamina (cover) in Mozart's Die Zauberflüte, and Laetitia in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief. During her time at Drake University, Ms. Fisher appeared as a soloist with the Drake Choir in multiple works, including the soloist in Mozart's Regina Coeli. She received First Place at the District Region of the NATS competition in both 2017 and 2018. 

A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Ms. Fisher has performed multiple roles with local opera company, The Des Moines Opera Project, including, Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen and Suor  Genovieffa in Suor Angelica. In 2016, she was an intern with Des Moines Metro Opera. 

Recent credits include Florida State University: Béatrice et Bénédict (Héro), Der Vampyr (Malwina), Drake University: Falstaff (Nannetta), Die Zauberflüte (Papagena, Pamina cover), The Old Maid and the Thief (Laetitia), Des Moines Opera Project: Carmen (Frasquita), Suor Angelica (Suor Genovieffa), ViVACE Summer Opera Intensive: Cosi fan tutte (Despina).
